I always tell the children that report cards are for the parents, not for them. Grades can be very confusing for little children and can often be misinterpreted. I would encourage you to think about whether you want to show your child's report card to him/her. Here's why...........some children, who have worked their TAILS off in reading, were given an "N" as their reading grade. I would NEVER want a child to think that he/she wasn't a good reader. We all learn at a different pace and some require more time than others. As I have mentioned before, I would give ALL of the kids "E's" because they are all putting forth their best effort!
If you have questions and/or concerns about your child's report card, please let me know.
The report card itself is yours to keep; the envelope needs to be signed and returned.
book fair
A BIG thank you to the parents (and students) who have purchased books for me! You are always so good to me.
Today, after returning from the book fair, a student handed me a new Fly Guy book. When I asked where it came from, he replied, "I bought it for you!" Bless his little heart. After purchasing a book for himself, he used the change that he had to buy ME a book. Now how many first graders would do this without prompting from their parents??!!

Kids write the sweetest things
Dear Mrs. Hahn,
I love you. Thanks for teaching me. You do a good job. When I sleep I think about you. Thank you. I really like you! This is just one of the MANY reasons I love being a teacher!
