and another study trip!
One person asked me if a signed permission slip was needed from the parents. The answer is no. When you enrolled your child at Kreft Primary, you gave permission for your child to attend any and all field trips.
Just a quick reminder that we will be going to see a ballet tomorrow (May 1) at the Joslyn Museum in Omaha. Nothing is needed...........................not a signed note, not a lunch, not any parent chaperones......................................nothing! When we get back we will go to lunch like we normally do! Looking forward to a great time. and another study trip!I don't know how we got so lucky to have 3 study trips in a row but next Tuesday, May 5, we will be heading to the Rose Theater to see Charolette's Web. Once again, nothing is needed. One person asked me if a signed permission slip was needed from the parents. The answer is no. When you enrolled your child at Kreft Primary, you gave permission for your child to attend any and all field trips. Mother's day projectNext week we are going to be working on a special project for Mother's Day. If you could email me a picture of your child with his/her mother, that would be great! If you want to print one off and send it with your child, that works too. And if you can't get me a picture, that's fine, too!

Our study trip to Hitchcock Nature Center is just around the corner. Rachel Cyboron and Andrea Hathaway will be the chaperones for the trip, while Megan Thomas, Craig Robertson, Susan Sunderman, Julia Davis, and Lyndsay Schaben will serve as volunteers. The chaperones are to ride the bus with the class, volunteers will drive themselves and meet us there. If you are meeting us at Hitchcock, please plan to be there around 9:45.

Health fair (summer safety)Today we had a Health Fair! Several nursing students from IWCC came to teach the children about ways to be safe this summer. Topisc covered: sun safety, bike safety, heart health, and bee safety. Ask your child to tell you what he/she learned. cookies with the principalThis month Addison Taylor will be having Cookies with the Principal. Great work Addie! Financial literacy (social studies/math)We recently had a speaker come to talk with us about how to be smart with money. He taught the children that there are three IMPORTANT things involving money. They are: Saving Money, Spending Money and Sharing Money. At the end of his presentation each child was given a piggy bank to take home. The kids were VERY excited, to say the least!
If you haven't already done so, please return the yellow field trip note regarding our trip to Hitchcock Nature Center (Tuesday, April 28). If you have lost the form feel free to email me to let me know if your child will bring a sack lunch from home or whether they will need one packed by the food service department. If you would like to go along, please let me know that as well! We will be leaving at 9:15 and will return at approximately 1:30. We are also collecting orders for elementary yearbooks. They are $15.00 and the orders are due on April 10.
Guess who is turning 18 on Easter Sunday? Tyler is! The kids made cards, hid from him, sang to him and of course ate birthday cake. I bet this is a birthday he won't forget!!! Happy Birthday Tyler! Have a very happy easter!I bet you heard that we did a project last week involving gummy worms and REAL worms! The kids went crazy! It was so much fun to hear them giggle and scream with excitement. Our last science unit was about the characteristics of living and nonliving things. The two different types of worms provided the children with an opportunity to examine a real worm and a gummy worm. Believe it or not, all but 2 children touched the worms. As you will notice in the pictures, one boy wouldn't even come close to his table. Though this project culminated the last unit, it also provided a nice bridge to our next science topic, Life Cycles of Living Things. This unit, too, will be very educational and LOTS of fun. Some of the things we have planned include watching the life cycles of butterflies and ducks. Wish us luck as hatching duck eggs is not an easy task! Below are the pictures from our worm project. Enjoy! As you can tell by the photos, the children REALLY got into the real worms! If I didn't post a picture of your child, I apologize. After taking LOTS of pictures I realized that I didn't have a memory card in my camera. I retook the pictures with my phone but apparently I didn't get everyone. I'm so sorry! Cookies with the principalCongratulations to Jaylen Davis for being chosen by his classmates to have Cookies With The Principal. Jaylen is definitely deserving of this honor! parent teacher conferencesIf you have not already done so, please return the sheet I sent home regarding conferences. I am available to meet with parents on Monday night (4:00 - 7:30), April 20, or all day Thursday, April 23. If you lost the form, feel free to email me with times that will work for you. This conference IS student involved so if at all possible, please bring your child with you. bus behavior recognition Congratulations to Luella and Kameron for being recognized AGAIN for their outstanding bus behavior! They must be REALLY good on the bus! reading homeworkWe can't have a four day weekend without a little reading homework, now can we? Please take a little time to have your child read to you. Show off his/her reading skills to family members and relatives visiting for Easter!
