Students are encouraged to bring something to wear to the party because they are sure to get WET! It can be a swimsuit or a pair of shorts and a shirt.
Our Splash Party will be held on the last day of school (June 2) at 1:30. Come and join us if you want! We have PLENTY of water balloons but could use some squirt guns. If your child has a squirt gun, please label it with your child's name and send to school.

Congratulations to these four spellers for representing our class in the Spelling Bee! Farewell Ducks!hough the ducks didn't leave last night as planned, they are going to the farm this morning. It's definitely time as they are growing like weeds and need more space. What a great time we've had with them!
We had 11 of 11 eggs hatch! Though we received a dozen eggs, one egg wasn't fertile so it was discarded. We did have one duckling die, and we gained one from Mrs. White's class. Overall it was a VERY successful project! As you may have heard, the NonPareil wrote a story about our ducks. Last week a photo journalist came to interview me and to take pictures. Later in the week a reporter called with more questions. Today we are on the front page of the NonPareil. Check it out!
I would like every child to have a copy of the article so if you don't get the paper, let me know and I will see what I can do! One little guy has hatched and 7 have cracks! I moved the camera so that we can hopefully see one of the next ones hatch. The little duckling is doing great. He's very sleepy and is currently resting!
I just returned from school and I have great news! Two of our duck eggs have "pips." A pip is when a duckling breaks through the shell of an egg. I will post pictures (below) though it may be hard to see the pip. I was only able to take a picture of one of the two eggs with "pips." The egg is right across from egg #10.
As you can see from the pictures, I took my helper with me, Lily. She's a Bernese Mountain Dog and loves going to school with me. Mrs. White, another teacher incubating duck eggs, actually has a duckling that just hatched. Lily really wanted to play with it! I will most likely return to school tonight to check on the progress of the ducklings. I will update you if there's any news! The incubator has a live cam on it. You can view the live stream at the Lewis Central webpage at lewiscentral.org. Click on schools, then on Kreft Primary School. Scroll down to Watching Ducks Hatch, click on read more to watch the live stream. We now have plenty of water balloons for our Splash Party. Thank you to everyone who donated.
I'm still looking for donations of juice boxes and cookies for the Celebration of Learning on May 26. If you would be willing to donate, please let me know. Thanks! The first grade Buddy Fun Day is this Friday at 1:30. The kindergarten session is from 12:15-1:15. If you are planning to come and volunteer for the first grade session, please report to the gym by 1:15. I had a parent tell me yesterday that she was going to volunteer for the kindergarten session so that she could follow her child to the stations during the first grade session. If you have the afternoon off, this might be nice option for you as well. If you are going to volunteer for the kindergarten session, please report to the gym at 12:00 for training.
Congratulations to Drew, Evan, Rylan, and Jaylee! They will be competing in the First Grade Spelling Contest on May 18 at 2:00. All first graders were given a spelling pretest and the top 25 spellers moved on to compete in the contest. Great work Drew, Evan, Rylan, and Jaylee!
Maddison Ridgway's mom, Heather, is looking for after school daycare for Maddison for next year. If you have a daycare center or an in-home daycare that you could recommend, she would love to hear from you! You can email her at [email protected]. Thanks!
In honor of Teacher Appreciation Week, students are encouraged to dress up tomorrow as their favorite story book character. Of course this is optional
