treats With The Principal
Behavior Notes
Pajama Day
Cookie Dough
Below are some of the cookies I made over the weekend. Though I don't think the cookies that the students make will look quite the same, we are sure to have a great time!
Congratulations to Alex DeWitt for her outstanding bus behavior! Alexa is well behaved IN the classroom and OUTSIDE of the classroom! Great Work Alexa! treats With The PrincipalCongratulations to Reid Clark for participating in Treats With the Principal. I can always count on Reid to "treat people right" and "to do the right thing!" Nice job Reid! Behavior NotesI am going to start sending behavior notes home with students who are struggling to "do the right thing" and to "treat people right." We've been in school for over 70 days this year and it's time to make sure everyone is on their best behavior! Please look in your child's take home folder nightly to see if there is a behavior note for you. If there is one please read it, sign it, and return it to school. By returning the note I know that you saw it and were able to discuss the contents with your child. Pajama DayDon't forget......................Pajama Day is Wednesday, December 21! Cookie DoughThank you to everyone who made donations for our Christmas cookies. We now have plenty of cookie dough. If you would like to donate a tub of white frosting or some small embellishments, that would be great! We could also use a few extra rolling pins. If you trust your child to bring your rolling pin to school, please label it with your name and send it our way!

The Dr. Seuss bags were not sent home this weekend. They will, however, come home on Wednesday, December 21. Enjoy your weekend!
We are going to have Pajama Day on Wednesday, December 21. Your child is welcome to wear his/her pajamas, and can bring a stuffed animal to school.
Pajama Day is strictly optional. If your child isn't comfortable coming in pajamas, that's perfectly fine! I doubt that I will come in mine! Next Wednesday, December 21, we are going to decorate Christmas cookies. Though I normally make my cookie dough from scratch, I'm going to cheat and ask for donations of store bought sugar cookie dough. If you would be willing to donate a tube or two of cookie dough or frosting and embellishments, please email me ([email protected]). I will need all donated items at school by Monday, December 19. Thanks!
Though it's still quite cold out, this week we are hoping to be able to go out to recess. If anyone would be willing to donate some gloves and/or mittens, I would sure appreciate it! Most kids have what they need but often forget them from time to time. If I could have a few pairs of gloves or mittens to keep in the classroom, that would be great!
For something a little different to do during independent writing, the children are making Christmas postcards. They are made out of recycled Christmas cards. When the holidays are over please consider donating your Christmas cards. Tear or cut off the portion that has writing on it, then return the unused card. An example is below. The kids are going CRAZY over this! Last year some parents donated new Christmas cards that were on clearance after the holidays. That works too! Opinion WritingThe students brought in a favorite collection to kick off our Opinion Writing Unit. The collections were displayed and each child wrote about his/her opinion regarding their best toy in the collection. The kids LOVED this!
Today we added a new song to our poetry and song binder. It's an oldie but a goodie....... I'm Getting Nothing For Christmas! The kids had a ball singing it! The lyrics are coming home for reading practice and if your child would like to sing along with the actual music, a link to You Tube is below! Enjoy! Report CardsReport cards were sent home on Monday, November 28. The actual report card is yours to keep but the envelope needs to be returned. Reading HomeworkToday the Dr. Seuss bags are coming home for reading homework. I've told the students that they will have a small reward for doing their homework and for bringing it back on time. If your child completes his/her homework, please sign the note inside the Dr. Seuss bag and return it on Monday. Happy Reading! ChristmasThough it's hard to believe, Christmas is just around the corner. Please know that a gift for me is NOT necessary! If you insist on buying something, please consider a gift that would benefit the kids, not me! Ideas are below: *playdough (regular size cans, not party size) *pencils (Ticonderoga brand) *smelly markers *stapler (Paper Pro-The Prodigy, this stapler is expensive but works well for children) *books for our classroom library (email me for title suggestions) *CD player for the listening center (one with a headphone jack and easy to operate) *Do-A-Dot art markers *watercolor paper for the art center (Hobby Lobby) Music ProgramMark your calendars for Monday, February 27, at 7:00! This is the date of our First Grade Music program. More info to come. Please keep in mind that there are TWO first grade programs so don't get confused about the dates. The other program (different classes) is on February 28. Thank You!A BIG shout out to Annabell's mom for offering to repair our Dr. Seuss bags!
