Congratulations to Miss Adams on the birth of her baby. Because I'm going to do some predicting with the kids tomorrow regarding the baby's sex, weight, and length, I'm not going to share the details until later tomorrow! If you want to donate for her baby gift and haven't done so, tomorrow is the last day I will be collecting money. So far we have $30.00. Dr. Seuss BagsPlease be sure to return your child's Dr. Seuss bag tomorrow. It contains books that will be needed tomorrow for our reading groups. Thanks!
Congratulations to Grace Warner, the latest student chosen to have Treats With the Principal! Friday Homework!Don't forget...............................Friday homework! Your child will be bringing home his/her Dr. Seuss bag. Happy Reading!
Tomorrow we will be heading to IWCC to hear the Omaha Symphony. We will be leaving at 10:00 and will return at lunch time. Please be sure that your child eats a decent breakfast because we will be eating at 12:30 instead of 12:00. Mission Imagination We will listen to "The Musical Adventures of Melvin the Explorer" by the Omaha Symphony. There is limited seating so this is only for students and teachers. Green Eggs and HamIn honor of Dr. Seuss's birthday, the cafeteria will be serving green eggs for and ham for breakfast on March 2. If you want your child to eat breakfast that day but they aren't a "regular" breakfast eater, please send me a note! Thanks. MathWe have started a new unit on measurement. We will learn to tell time, identify the date on a calendar, measure objects using inches and centimeters, and weigh objects. Telling time is a challenge for many young children. If at all possible, please review this at home. Point out various times throughout the day as well as noticing different times on the clock. If possible, use a analog clock, not a digital one. First Grade Music ProgramMark Your Calendars On March 1st, at 7:00, our class will perform in a music program at the middle school. We hope to see you there. You should have received a note specifying more details. CoatsThough I'm just as anxious as the kids are for springlike temperatures, spring hasn't arrived yet and many days are still pretty chilly. Please continue to send your child with a coat everyday. Keep in mind that we go out to recess at 8:10 each morning and again at 12:30. Though somedays the high is predicted to be quite nice, it's often in the 30's and 40's when we go to recess, especially during our first recess at 8:10. I've told the kids that they are not allowed to go outside without coats until it's in the upper 50's or 60's.
Ms. Adams, one of our classroom paras, is expecting a baby boy and he is to arrive any day now! I think it's only fitting, for a class of young readers, to give the baby a few new books. Would you be willing to make a small donation for a baby gift? If so, please send it to school by Wednesday, February 24.
By the way....................the cutie in this picture is NOT Ms. Adam's baby, it's Landen's little brother! Thanks to our guidance counselor, Miss Dobernecker, we have two new "buddy benches." What's a buddy bench you might ask? It's a place to sit when you're feeling lonely and you need someone to play with.
February 17 was the 100th day of school! Wow! Where has the time gone? Just 80 more days until summer vacation. During community circle the kids named something they would LIKE to have 100 of and something they WOULDN'T want a hundred of. Their responses are below. Can you guess what your child might have said??!! I WOULD want 100 ...................................................... dollars, pieces of candy, cookies, puppies, stuffed animals, shopkins, baby bunnies, stuffed puppies, rockets launchers, pokemon cards, dinosaur toys, guns, legos, hugs I WOULDN'T want 100 ...................... farrets, macaws, cats, brother (I have one and he is annoying), stuffed animals, guinea pigs, parakeets, phones, more days of school, moms, makeovers, bossy people, tornadoes, parents, apples Toothless Wonders!Today we have LOTS of kids with loose teeth. So far we've already had two girls lose one of their front teeth! Ms. Moe, a classroom volunteer, was here today and helped out. Thanks Ms. Moe! Garage Band Plays For Kreft StudentsToday the children learned about Mardi Gras during Art. When I came to pick them up they were so excited to show me their masks! Not only did they have cool masks but they had a dance to show me as well. What a fun Art class! When I was in elementary school we never had THIS much fun. Did you?
