The kids did an OUTSTANDING job at the music program. If fact, I think it was one of the best programs ever. If you missed it, a video of one of the songs is below. Thanks Rachel!

Tuesday, Wear Green!Tomorrow we are asking students to dress in green in honor of the book Green Eggs and Ham. Plus the cafeteria will be serving green eggs and ham, and cinnamon rolls with green frosting!
The children are learning about light and recently conducted experiments to see which materials light could pass through. The words transparent, translucent, and opaque are our new science words. When we have science, we combine our class with Mrs. Pomrenke's class. It's so rewarding to see 40+ students enjoying science! Tuesday, February 26On Tuesday, February 26, I will not be at school. I am going to the Girl's State Basketball Tournament in Des Moines where I will be routing for Alissa Pomrenke, a former student of mine, who was in my class for kindergarten and first grade. Not only was I Alissa's teacher for two years, but I was her brother's (Jonah) teacher as well. Both are in the photo below. Please talk with your child about being respectful, responsible, and safe while I am away. A big shout out to Rachel Cyboron, Camden's mom, for subbing for me that day. Next week we will be celebrating Dr. Seuss Week! Lots of fun things are planned so be sure to check out the link above! On Tuesday, February 27, students are invited to eat breakfast at school where green eggs and ham will be served, along with a cinnamon roll. All children are welcome to eat breakfast at school that day BUT if your child doesn't normally eat breakfast at school, he/she will need a note stating that permission is given. Music Program ReminderDon't forget, Monday, February 26, is our First Grade Music Program. Please arrive at the middle school auditorium between 6:40-6:45; the program starts at 7:00. I hope everyone can make it as it's always a great program.
As I mentioned earlier, the Kreft Book Fair will be here real soon! The book fair will be open during school on March 13 and 14, and will also be open during Family Activity Night on March 15. Our very own Ashley Rusch, Caleb's mom, is chairing this event. A BIG shout out to her for doing this as it's a VERY BIG JOB!
As always, the book fair won't be a success without volunteers. If you would be willing to help, the sign up link is below. The GREAT thing about volunteering is if parents from MY room volunteer, I earn scholastic points, which can be used to purchase books at the book fair! Each year I make sure that EVERY child in my class is able to purchase a book at the book fair. If you would be willing to make a small donation ($2-$5.00), I will use what you send to buy books for children who are unable to. Mark the envelope BOOK FAIR DONATION. Baby wipes are offered as a choice when washing up before snack. Some kids don't like hand sanitizer (including me) and prefer washing with water and/or a baby wipe. If you would be willing to send a package, we would sure appreciate it! Study TripOn March 7th we will be going to Iowa Western Community College to see the Omaha Symphony perform. We will leave at 9:30 and will return in time for lunch. Unfortunately we are unable to bring parents as chaperones.
For the second week in a row, we have had the BEST attendance in ALL of first grade! Thank you to the parents for making attendance at school a priority!
The COLD weather can't keep us from having fun! 100's Day PhotosThis is how we will look when we are 100! Yikes! Attendance TrophyWe finally did it! We had the best attendance last week in all of first grade! Great work kids! |
