The Valentine's Day Party will be held on Thursday, February 14, at 2:20. Because we will only have one hour for the party, we will pass out our valentine cards and have our snack prior to the party. I will be planning the party myself, but will be asking for donations. I'm going to keep it simple because what matters most to the kids is passing out and opening valentines!! At 2:20 we will play Minute-To-Win-It games with candy hearts. Feel free to join us! We will be exchanging valentine cards so please plan to send 22 cards. They can be homemade or store bought. Please have your child address the cards as they are more than capable of doing this job! :) If you would like to send a little Valentine treat, please tape it to your child's valentine cards. To help your child address his/her cards, I have included a class list (below). I will also send a hard copy home. Your child will also need a Valentine box to gather his/her Valentine cards in. I have many fond memories of making my box with my mom! You can do whatever you want for your child's box, but be sure to clearly display your child's name on it. If you are unable to make a box with your child, please let me know and I will help your child make one at school. The same is true regarding Valentine cards. If you are unable to purchase them, please let me know and I will take care of this for you. I will, however, need a day or two's notice if help is needed. Because storage is always a problem, please don't send your child's valentine box until February 13 or 14. Music ProgramDon't forget to mark your calendars for our first grade music program. It's Monday, February 25, at 7:00 pm. parent Teacher ConferencesJust a friendly reminder that conferences are next week. They will be held on Monday, February 4 from 4-8:00 pm and Thursday, February 7 from 8:00 am - 8:00 pm. There will be NO SCHOOL on February 7 and 8.
We still have a couple of people who haven't signed up for a conference. The link is below in one of my previous posts. Because Mrs. Pomrenke and I are working together this time, the schedule is very full with conferences starting every 15 minutes. It will be VERY important that you arrive on time. Each family will have a full 30 minute conference (15 minutes will be with your child; 15 minutes with the teachers). Though we can be flexible on the parent/student portion of the conference, the parent/teacher portion will need to be limited to 15 minutes. If you have questions and / or concerns, please have them ready so we can stay on schedule. Thank you kindly! Due to the snow days, our special calendar is now incorrect. Please note the correct specials for next week:
Monday-Art Tuesday-Library (check out) Wednesday-PE/Guidance Thursday-Music Friday-Library The snack helpers will remain the same. Thank you to those of you have already signed up for a conference. The link went live this morning and so far we have about 5-7 families signed up. The link can be found in a post from yesterday.
As you may have heard, it's time to start our winter testing. One of our assessments will check students on their sight word knowledge. The goal for winter is 50 sight words per minute. Please spend a some time this weekend working on the sight word list that came home today. Thanks!
A friendly reminder that the conference sign-up link goes live tomorrow morning at 6 am. The link is below.
Believe it or not, it's already time to schedule parent teacher conferences. They will be held on Monday,, February 4, from 4-8:00 pm, and on Thursday, February 7, from 8-8:00pm.
Mrs. Pomrenke and I will both be meeting with parents this time. When you go to schedule your child's conference, you will find 15 minute increments. Rest assured that you WILL still have a 30 minute conference.. The first 15 minutes will be for parents/teachers. The final 15 minutes will be for students/parents. Because we will be meeting with students from both classes (approximately 45 students), it will be VERY important that we stay on schedule. If you are going to travel to Titan Hill for another conference, please be sure to allow yourself adequate travel time. Lastly, the online sign-up will be available this Friday morning, January 11, at 6 am. I would suggest signing up ASAP so that you can find a time that works for you. The evening slots are always the most popular ones. If there's any way possible that you can come in the morning or afternoon, please do so. I look forward to seeing everyone! Congratulations to Max, the December Titan of the Month! He definitely deserves this honor. Max is consistently respectful, responsible, and safe. Great Work Max!
