We are looking for someone to donate new Play-Doh. If interested, please purchase the full size cans, not the party size. Thanks in advance! Yearbook Orders DueTomorrow is the last day to turn in yearbook orders. They are $16.00. WeatherPlease remember that we go out to recess in the morning before school (8:10-8:25) and again at 10:40-11:00. It's not warm enough then to go outside without a coat. The afternoon recess might be a different story (3:00-3:15,) but a jacket will be needed for morning recess. Thanks!
Today the order forms for our elementary yearbooks are coming home. Though they are expensive ($16.00), kids LOVE them! It's always a sad day when the yearbooks come in and there are students who didn't get one. Order forms are due Friday, March 22. Get yours today! Thank You!A big THANK YOU to everyone who bought books for me or donated money at the book fair. All of the new books are for our classroom library! When it was all said and done, I had over $150.00 in new books. My plan was to take pictures of all of the new books but the kids couldn't wait to get their hands on them, so no pics.................
Last week we celebrated the birthday of Dr. Seuss, who was born on March 2. One of my former students, Kennedy Korner, came to read Green Eggs and Ham to the class. We even scored some leftover green eggs and ham from Miss Benson's class! ArtIn honor of Mardi Gras, the kids made masks during art class. Ms. Swanger showed the class a US map so they could see where Louisanna was in relation to Iowa. As you can see from the pictures below, they were very proud of their work! Free At Last! After being cooped up inside most of last week, the kids were finally able to go out to recess on Thursday. Though the kids were happy, the teachers were the HAPPIEST! SnacksThe extra snack tub is getting very low and needs to be replenished. If you would be willing to send a donation, the kids would thank you! PTA Book FairThe Kreft Book Fair, sponsored by the PTA, will be here the week of March 11. The book fair will be open during school on March 13 and 14, and will also be open during Family Activity Night on March 14.
Each year I try to make sure that EVERY child in my class is able to purchase a book at the book fair. If you would be willing to make a small donation ($2-$5.00), I will use what you send to buy books for children who are unable to. Please mark the envelope BOOK FAIR DONATION. Because the Book Fair is a fundraiser for the PTA, the books are more pricy than they are in the book order. If you plan to send money with your child to buy books, I would suggest sending at least $5.00. You may send book money anytime this week or next. If you are planning to attend Family Activity Night, it would probably be best to shop with your child that night. Trying to shop by myself with 22 first graders who have little knowledge of money can be a challenge, to say the least! |
