It's letter "Z" on the order form and is $8.00. October Book OrderToday a new book order is coming home. There are two ways to order: 1. Return the order form to me and I will order for you. You may pay with cash or a check made out to Scholastic. 2. Order online at www.scholastic.com/readingclub. This will require our class code (M66PV) and the use of a credit card. Teacher Recommendations: Bugs in my Hair Fly Guy Pack If You Take a Mouse to School Pete the Cat (all titles, including the I Can Read versions) Pinkalicious Click, Clack, Boo I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie MathThis week we introduced money. We talked about the names of the coins and about the value of each coin. Please spend some time working on money with your child. Practice counting "like" coins (ex. 3 nickels, 5 dimes, 11 pennies, etc.) and sing together the Money Song, which is coming home today. reading HomeworkThank you to everyone who completed the reading homework (list of ee, ea words). This week we will be focusing on words that start with "wh." Look for "wh" words as you are reading to your child and watch for a Word Detective Page to come home.
During our literacy instruction we have been working on letters that make the long e sound. We have been working on the vowel teams of ee and ea. Today your child is bringing home a Word Detective activity. Please help your child to make a list of words with ee and ea in them. Keep in mind that not all vowel combinations of ee and ea make the long e sound, for example Reagan, head, sweat and ocean do not follow the rule. Though this day is designed for grandparents to visit, we welcome ANY guest that your child wants to bring. Of course not every child will be able to bring a grandparent so parents, neighbors, etc. are welcome to attend. If at all possible I would like EVERY child to have a guest that day. It breaks my heart to see children watching and waiting for a their guest to arrive and then no one comes.
On Grandparents' Day each class will sing a couple of songs. Once the program is over your child is welcome to leave with his/her guest, providing you returned the permission slip sent home earlier this week. |
